The National Drought and Flood Agency (NDFA) is launching a comic relief tour that will visit 10 towns and villages across the north west, which will be headlined by Australian comedian, producer and actor Damian Callinan.
Star of acclaimed comedy The Merger, Mr Callinan is no stranger to the region having completed another successful tour in February 2020.
He will begin the What a Relief! journey at Currabubula Memorial Hall on April 7, and will be accompanied by experts who can provide access to health and rural financial advice.
Counsellors from the Rural Financial Counselling Service, co-ordinators from the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program, primary healthcare nurses from Healthwise, and mental health clinicians from Northern NSW Local Health District will be on hand.
While the drought has broken for much of the region, the impacts it had have not disappeared.
NDFA's regional recovery officer for North NSW Sandy McNaughton will also be in attendance to discuss other government support, including applications for $500 Rotary debit cards which will be available at the event.

"These disasters have left their mark on northern NSW communities and while we have a focus on recovery, it is equally important we look after people's mental health," she said.
The importance of laughing and forgetting about the pressures of farm life for a little while is not lost on Ms McNaughton either.
"This is a great opportunity to experience a comedian of Damian's calibre as he shines a light on the local landscape with his unique form of stand-up," she stated.
"What a Relief! will be an opportunity for community members to get together in local halls to enjoy some fabulous humour in these challenging times and share a meal in good company."
