The council is taking advantage of the enforced quiet period to carry out the refurbishments in the Civic Theatre.
A commemorative photo montage featuring images provided by the community of their memories at the Gunnedah Cultural Precinct will also be installed behind the candy bar.

Council's cultural precinct team leader Lauren Mackley said the renovations had come at a good time because new content was limited due to the fluid COVID-19 situation.
"Release dates for most new films have been pushed back until at least later this year, so getting these refurbishments underway now means the community won't miss out on any upcoming blockbusters," Ms Mackley said.
"The Civic Cinema has seen a lot of use and the well-worn seats and carpet is a good indication it is a much-loved community asset. There are a lot of people very enthusiastic to return.
"These renovations will help deliver a more comfortable, engaging cinema experience."
Renovations should be complete in August.
