A WOMAN who police claim was clocked at 240km per hour in a police pursuit near Gunnedah has fronted court for the first time.

Thalia Nicole Kelly-Payne appeared in Gunnedah Local Court on Tuesday on charges stemming from a police chase in May.
Police claim the 20-year-old was behind the wheel of a blue Ford sedan that was speeding and failed to stop for officers on the Kamilaroi Highway near Breeza.
Kelly-Payne was allegedly travelling at 240km per hour in a signposted 110km/h area about 12.30pm on May 10.

Police said they gave chase before the driver stopped. Kelly-Payne was arrested and taken to Gunnedah police station and charged.
Two men in the car were also questioned before police uncovered methylamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the car.
It's the police case that Kelly-Payne has a learner's licence that is suspended.
Kelly-Payne did not enter pleas to the charges in court on Tuesday, but magistrate Peter Thompson ordered they must be entered on the next occasion.
He adjourned the case to August. She remains on conditional bail.
Kelly-Payne is accused of driving dangerously or recklessly; police pursuit Skye's Law; driving while suspended; and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km per hour.
A separate charge of possessing a prohibited drug for Kelly-Payne was also adjourned to August.
