PARKES MP Mark Coulton is pleading for local manufacturers to apply for grant funding, saying it will give businesses "confidence and certainty" to invest in themselves.

The Manufacturing Modernisation Fund (MMF) grant is entering its second round, and contributions of between $100,000 to $1 million can be applied for by manufacturers with shovel-ready projects which are designed to increase jobs and productivity.
Eligible businesses can be in the fields of resources technology and critical minerals processing, food and beverage, medical products, recycling and clean energy, defence or space.
Approximately $48.3 million was spent in the first round of MMF - $1.747 million of which was spent on successful applicants in Parkes - with nearly 200 projects receiving a share of the funding nationwide.

In what has been a tough year for many, Mr Coulton said the grants could be crucial.
"This government knows that manufacturing is central to our region's economic future and creating jobs for the COVID-19 recovery," he said.
"This is about providing more products for Australians and opening up new opportunities for manufacturers to take on the world with their top-quality products."
