A NEW report by the Bureau of Health Information (BHI) has found that Gunnedah Hospital is performing extremely well in their emergency department (ED) and for elective surgeries.

ED wait times were a major feature of the report, and it was revealed Gunnedah Hospital were able to treat patients on time 83.4 per cent of the time, which is higher than the state average.
They also bettered the average for leaving patients in the waiting room for under four hours, registering 90.3 per cent for that issue.

As for elective surgeries, their timing was flawless according to the BHI.
"'Of the District's 15 hospitals captured in the report, five hospitals ranked perfectly for performing elective surgeries on time, which is fantastic to see," said district chief executive Michael DiRienzo.
"The best performing hospitals include Gunnedah, Moree, Muswellbrook, Narrabri and Singleton, where 100 per cent of surgeries across all urgency categories were performed on time," added a spokesperson.
"This performance exceeds the state average and waiting times for all elective surgeries are well within the recommended timeframes."
