An annual presentation and awards day was recently held at the school which featured a farewell speech by QHS Clontarf Director Marcus Thompson and an afternoon tea for all students and Clontarf representatives.
Acknowledgement of Country was made by Liam Faulkner, and speeches given by Regional Manager for Hunter Northwest Dan Lewinski and QHS teacher Mrs Valentine.
The Clontarf Foundation exists to improve education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men to equip them to participate meaningfully in society.
Since opening its first Academy for 25 boys in 2000, the foundation has grown to cater for about 8,300 boys in 121 schools across Western Australia, Northern Territory, Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland.
