PRINCIPALS of schools in the area received a special visit last week, with Lila Mularczyk OAM travelling to the region on behalf of the University of NSW (UNSW) Gonski Institute, UNSW School of Education and NSW Department of Education for the Rural Remote Education Project.

Ms Mularczyk has in fact been to the Namoi Valley twice in recent times to ensure she was able to meet with officials from as many schools as possible.
She certainly did the rounds, speaking to Jacqui Jones (Curlewis Public School), Tazmin Deer (Mullaley Public School), Ben Carter (Boggabri Public School), Peter Baum (Gunnedah South Public School), Cathie McMaster (Gunnedah Public School) and Shane Kelly (Gunnedah High School).
She could not speak highly enough of the local educational leaders, and said it was an enjoyable and instructive experience.

"My meetings with each of the principals was most hospitable and informative, I continue to learn from my colleagues all the time," she said.
The Rural Remote Education Project is a partnership between the aforementioned groups, aimed at gaining a better understanding of how to operate learning practices in areas such as Gunnedah.
"We're doing research and contextual discussions, observations and critical friend work to get information and the experience of our rural and remote colleagues," she said.
"And what might work better in rural and remote settings for students and staff."
