The annual muster is run by Gunnedah Show Society and president Rob Witts was excited to hear the funding news.
"I thought it was wonderful; it secures the event," Mr Witts said.
"It really will help for the running of the event because we'll be reimbursed for expenses such as advertising, venue hire, insurance and such.
"This funding will help lift the level of advertising for the event, which should help attract more people to come."
This year's muster will be held at the Gunnedah Showground from Wednesday, April 9 until Sunday, April 14, with performances from professional and 'walk-up' artists.
It secures the event.

The packed line-up of artists includes individuals and duos from the shire and beyond, including Rob Breese from Tamworth, Trevor Coombs from Manilla and Johnny Greenwood from Brisbane.
Country Music Muster organiser Rex Baldwin said it was a chance for up and coming artists to showcase their musical talents.
"We’ve made it so that no one can sing the same song, so they have to be in the hall to find out what songs are sung," Mr Baldwin said.
"It makes for a better show when everyone is listening."
A dance night, a town tour, and a two-course meal are also on the cards.
More information on the event can be found on the Gunnedah Show Society website.
Those interested in performing as part of the 'walk-up' artists can contact Rex Baldwin on 0428 486 134.
