The Haupts said there was a substantial jump in the number of locals needing help this year and put it down to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent flooding.
The community's giving spirit rose to meet the need and the Haupts said they were "surprised" and "so grateful" for the response.
"We couldn't do it without the community," Leftenant Haupt said.
"That's what it's about - the community working together to help people in need ... that shows the purest essence of the community spirit and our connection with the community and how we all help each other."
The Salvos officers said it was "really special" to deliver donations to those who are isolated and live alone, and emphasised that "Christmas can be tough" for many people.
"The biggest thing is that people need to know they're being cared for," Leftenant Haupt said
"You don't even know what to think about it," Leftenant Haupt said.
"My heart will always be for the people. That's my first and foremost, and I'll do it up until the day we leave."
- The Salvation Army family store is closed until early January. Donations will be accepted again from January 3, 2022.
