Funding of up to $5000 can be awarded through the scheme, which is now in it's 17th year.
Given the financial difficulty many clubs have faced since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic, GSC understands the need for assistance is at an all-time high.
"Groups can apply for up to $5,000, which might be exactly what is needed to get a new initiative or service off the ground," mayor Jamie Chaffey said.
"With so many fundraising opportunities and activities cancelled or disrupted last year due to the coronavirus, it is a tough time for community groups."
The latest round opened last week, following the March ordinary council meeting which saw the appointment of councillors David Moses, Owen Hasler and John Campbell to the selection panel.

As one of the pillars of the local community, sport has a major role to play in bringing people together and giving them an outlet.
Cr Chaffey was keen to show that he understands that, and said projects that are mutually beneficial will be favoured.
"Council recognises the valuable contribution these community groups and sporting clubs make to the fabric of our community and, in particular, the volunteers that work tirelessly to keep those organisations functioning," he said.
"When assessing the applications, priority will be given to those projects and initiatives that not only help organisations to grow and be sustainable, but also support the broader community."
Application forms and grant guidelines are available from Council's website at www.gunnedah.nsw.gov.au.
Further information is available by contacting Council's Community and Social Planner, Debra Hilton on 6740 2100 or council@infogunnedah.com.au.
The 2021-2022 funding round closes at 5pm on Monday, May 3, 2021.
