A MOTORBIKE rider has been killed and a police investigation is under way after a crash near Narrabri on Saturday.

A crime scene has been set up at the crash site on Killarney Gap Road near Narrabri after the crash about lunchtime.
Police have been told a motorbike and a four-wheel-drive towing a caravan collided about 12.45pm.
The motorbike rider fell from the bike and died at the scene.

Police have confirmed the rider was a 31-year-old man.
The driver of the four-wheel-drive, aged in his 40s, was not injured in the crash but was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and alcohol testing.
Oxley police are investigating the moments leading up to the crash and have examined the roadway.
Investigations are continuing.
It's the first fatality for the New England North West for the October long weekend.
Extra police have been deployed to patrol the roads for the school holidays and long weekend, with double demerits in force for all seatbelt, mobile phone, speeding and helmet offences.
Double demerits are in force until midnight on Monday.
