The $15,000 Local Sports Grant will go towards upgrading the fences around the Hunter Street courts.
Earlier this year Gunnedah Tennis Club president Robert White spoke of the club's wish to replace the fencing, among other projects including install new LED lighting and resurfacing a couple of courts at the club's main base on Chandos Street.
He said they had applied for state governments grants and were also intending to meet with Gunnedah Shire Council to explore more potential funding options.

Following the funding announcement he said the proposed improvements for the Mornington courts were a great boost for the sport.
"This grant will help us with the renewal of fencing that is well past its used by date at the Mornington tennis courts and replace them with some chain link material," White said.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson MP said the grant is great news for the club particularly during a period of challenging conditions like the COVID-19 pandemic, the recent bushfires and drought disasters.
"It's fantastic to see these community courts getting a facelift and this in turn will encourage more people to use them for a social hit, to practice or play a local competition," he said.
"Gunnedah has a fantastic reputation for producing some great tennis players and young players who are so passionate about their sport."
