GUNNEDAH has passed a promising milestone in the COVID-19 pandemic, with no new cases of the virus recorded in the local government area for the past two weeks.

NSW Health statistics released on Tuesday show the Tamworth local government area remained stable at 12 coronavirus patients for the last 24-hour testing period, to 8pm on Monday.
One of those patients resides in the Gunnedah 2380 postcode.
Hunter New England Health (HNEH) recorded no new COVID-19 cases across the health district for the latest testing period and remained stable at 276 cases.

HNEH statistics show recoveries in the area are on the rise but there are still six people being cared for in hospitals in the district, including two in intensive care.
Despite the good news for Gunnedah locals, HNEH public health physician Dr David Durrheim warned residents the numbers do not mean the virus is contained or safety measures can be relaxed.
"While it's promising to see the number of confirmed cases reducing, it is too early to say we have control of COVID-19 transmission within the local health district," he said.
"The district can only confirm and report cases we're aware of.
"It is possible there are people in the community who are unwell and potentially have COVID-19 - they just haven't been tested yet."
He advised people who feel unwell with a fever or respiratory symptoms seek testing by calling ahead and presenting to a hospital emergency department or GP.
There is no designated testing clinic in the Gunnedah area.
Two weeks have now passed since the last new case in Tamworth was reported, and three weeks have passed since the first local case was confirmed.
The recovery status of patients in the Tamworth local government area, including one in the Attunga postcode, remains unknown.
Gunnedah still has at least one confirmed case of COVID-19.
