Only the stretch from the skate park and the Oxley Highway roundabout will be closed, but motorists needing to access the road and the highway will need to divert via Marquis Street and Hunter Street.
The closure will allow Daracon crews to install drainage culverts, build the remainder of the new roundabout and conduct service relocation.
New Street, however, will now reopen after being closed since September 2019.
