The closure will allow the installation of drainage culverts, building of the new Oxley Highway roundabout, and relocation of utilities. It is the first stage of closures for the bridge project.
"We will work with the contractor throughout construction and, with clear weather, may be able to reduce the time frames where possible, weather permitting," an RMS spokesperson said.

New Street between the railway crossing and the south end of Warrabungle Street remains open during the work, allowing access between Railway Avenue and Barber Street.
When stage one is complete, the RMS will close View Street for up to four months to "allow work on the existing roundabout to be carried out simultaneously to the bridge work, reducing the overall construction impacts on the community".
When the project is complete, the new route will replace the existing New Street level crossing, which will be permanently closed.
