Gunnedah mayor Jamie Chaffey said a decision would be made "at some point in time as to whether change is required".
"With recent glorious rainfall through January and February, and the reduction in temperatures as we start to ease into March and cooler days, we are seeing quite a substantial reduction in water use throughout the shire," Cr Chaffey said.
"In most areas within the shire, the rainfall from January and February equates the total rainfall for 2019 [so] I expect that the level 1 water restriction position will be re-evaluated and may soon change."

At this level, residents may use fixed sprinklers from 6 to 7 o'clock only, morning and night. They may wash down hard surfaces with high-pressure hoses only, and need a permit to fill pools over 2000 litres.
