Hundreds of swimmers will take to the water at the Gunnedah Memorial Swimming Pool on Saturday.
The host club will be represented by a team of 44 swimmers and Hickey said they are all excited about competing in their home carnival.
"We're hoping everyone is switched on and ready to go," he said.
The carnival follows on from the Tamworth City carnival last Sunday where the squad of 24 achieved some very pleasing results.
"I was very happy with what we did on the weekend but I'm hoping we can improve a fraction again," Hickey said.

The first regional carnival for the year, he said the results showed that the work they did before Christmas wasn't lost over the break.
In preparation for the carnival, as well as their training in the water, they have been doing a lot of block work.
"From when I came back we've been on the blocks every day," Hickey said.
"They are a bit steeper than Tamworth."
It is a pretty packed schedule from now until mid-March with a carnival on every weekend and the bigger Country and State meets coming up in the next couple of months.
"It really builds from here," Hickey said.
Racing on Saturday starts at 8am.
