Drivers and others are being warned that trains through Gunnedah area level crossings will be travelling faster than in the past few months.

The Australian Rail Track Corporation is urging people to take care, as "passenger trains [will be] returning to full track speeds" between Werris Creek and Narrabri from this week.
The speed through the crossings has been 20km/h in recent months while work was being done on track circuits.

Trains will "gradually return" to the normal higher speed, and variable message signs will be in place at various times to remind people of the change.
The level crossings in questions all have boom gates, bells and lights.
They are:
- Hogarth Street, near Kamilaroi Highway, Breeza
- Kamilaroi Highway at southern end of Curlewis
- Goolhi Road, Emerald Hill
- Caloola Road - Boston Street, Boggabri
- Baranbah Street, Baan Baa
- Kurrajong Creek Road, 10km north of Baan Baa (Narrabri Coal level crossing)
