A man and woman have been charged and multiple weapons seized after a police chase near Gunnedah.

Police say that at about 12pm on Monday, officers tried to stop a Holden Commodore travelling north on the Newell Highway through Coonabarabran for the purpose of a random breath test.
Police allege the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit started along the Newell and Oxley Highway approximately 20km from the township. The pursuit was terminated a short time later.

A short time later, officers saw the same vehicle in Coolah where it was recorded by police helicopter, PolAir as it travelled along the Golden Highway near Dunedoo before coming to a stop in bushland off the highway.
Local police gave chase and arrested a man and woman, aged 31 and 32, at the location.
Officers searched the Commodore and will allege they uncovered a rifle, air rifle, taser, extendable baton, knife, drug paraphernalia and multiple items suspected to be the proceeds of crime.
The pair was taken to Mudgee Police Station and charged with 18 offences.
The man, who police allege was behind the wheel, was charged with two counts each of police pursuit; possessing a firearm; as well as possessing ammunition; driving whilst disqualified; possessing a prohibited weapon; custody of a knife; possessing equipment to administer a prohibited drug; driving an unregistered vehicle; and drive in a speed that's dangerous.
The woman was charged with two counts of possessing a firearm; possessing ammunition; two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon; custody of a knife; and possessing equipment to administer a prohibited drug.
They were refused bail to appear before Mudgee Local Court on Tuesday.
