Quirindi op shop returns at call of community

Harvest Church ran an op shop three days a week in its own building for just over a year before closing the doors in May 2019 because of lack of space.

However, Harvest's ministers Wayne and Phyl Nichols said they realised there was a need for the shop when community members continued to approach them to ask what had happened.

"The community really missed it when it closed down here ... We didn't realise the op shop was affecting so many people because when we closed it down so many people came to us and spoke to us and said, 'Where is it? Are you going to open it again?'," Mrs Nichols said.

Just three months later, the church found a suitable building in the CBD and the op shop is now open five days a week from 10am-2pm.

"Even as we were working there [setting up], young mums were stopping and saying, 'Oh, I'm so glad you're opening up again', so it's been a necessary thing in the community," Mr Nichols said.

The shop is packed full of clothing, kitchenware, bric-a-brac, shoes, books, movies and much more. There is even a section for children's clothes to make shopping convenient for parents.
