Crew were able to contain the fire before any property was lost.
Deputy captain Paul Hartley said the pine trees and pine needles in the paddock fuelled the fire, which was being treated as suspicious.
"There were some children seen in the area and information has been handed over to the police to pursue," he said.
On Sunday at 8.30am, crews responded to a call for a structure fire on Talibah Street.
When the crew arrived, they found the contents of a shed, including a caravan, destroyed by fire.
"It appeared it had been burning for some time before we got the call," deputy captain Andrew Johns said.
"It was too far gone for us to make any determination, really, [as to the cause]."
In the afternoon, the brigade was called to a yard fire in south Gunnedah. A resident was burning rubbish and was instructed to extinguish it because they did not have a permit.
The Bush Fire Danger Period for the Gunnedah shire started that same day and anyone who wants to light a fire must obtain a permit from their local fire control centre.
Gunnedah is set for a hot week, with temperatures predicted as high as 32 degrees.
