Not only does the library have a collection of over 17,000 items that it can loan out to library members, but there are also newspapers, local history reference materials, and a slew of other services available. These include JPs on duty from 9.30am-5pm Monday to Friday, copying, printing, scanning and laminating, seven public access computers and free WiFi. Computers need to be booked, and are free, but scanning, copying, printing and laminating incur a small charge.

Materials that can be borrowed include the latest fiction titles in all genres, non-fiction or factual materials across all subject areas, and children's books, from board books for the very young, picture books, book sets for beginning readers, and novels and factual books written for youngsters.
Older children are catered for with the young adult section, and then, of course, there are many fiction books for the avid reader. For people with poor eyesight there are large print books, and also talking books - for both children and adults - stories to listen to when travelling by car, plane or train.
Magazines, paperbacks, DVDs and CDs are also available for loan.
In keeping with the new library ideal that libraries are no longer just 'book places, but people spaces', the library hosts over a dozen program each week, including Toddler Time for pre-school youngsters three times a week, Junior Brain Games, Bookends Literacy Assist three times a week, Brain Training @ the Library twice a week, Knit and Natter, Colour and Chatter on Saturday mornings, and outreach visits to homes, shops, Curlewis, Lundie House, and Alkira.
So truly there is something for everyone at the library, and you don't have to be a reader to enjoy the services. Even better, the program and membership are free.
Come along and ask the staff how you can join, and take advantage of this great local government service.
See you soon at the library.
