The TAFE NSW Gunnedah student received the prestigious Tourism and Experience Services Student of the Year Award on Wednesday at a gala awards ceremony for the TAFE NSW Excellence Awards.

TAFE NSW regional general manager Kate Baxter praised Ms Schillert's commitment and dedication to her studies.
"Lucy has shown true dedication to her studies from the first day of attendance at TAFE NSW. She has a huge passion for the beauty industry and this shows in all areas of her work," Ms Baxter said.
"She continually went above and beyond to not only achieve her own goals, but to help others in her class with achieving theirs, demonstrating outstanding leadership skills and a burning desire to achieve and be the best she can be."
Ms Schillert finished a certificate IV in beauty therapy at TAFE NSW Gunnedah in 2018 and said she was "very shocked" to receive the award.
"I never thought I'd get picked or win something like this," she said.
"I'm very excited. I love coming to work every day, I'm really passionate about beauty therapy and to win an award for doing something I love is wonderful."
