Families took advantage of free entry at the new Gunnedah Memorial Pool Complex from 9.30am where the annual triathlon started at 6am.
Next door to the complex, locals gathered for a church service and citizenship ceremony, with seven locals pledging their loyalty to Australia.
Out at the Gunnedah Rugby Club, the Hickey family ran a stack of activities as part of Aussiefest, which was launched in 2018.
Local pubs and clubs also got involved, running eating competitions, pig races and yabbie races.
Gunnedah’s Australia Day ambassador Warwick Nowland could be spotted at numerous events, meeting locals. The two-time world superbike champion was a guest speaker at Friday night’s Australia Day Awards dinner.
