More than 100 people attended the ball in the Gunnedah Town Hall in October, which was Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event was organised by locals Geoff, Belinda and Molly Dawson, and breast cancer survivor Michelle King, with funds going to Breast Cancer Trials, formerly known as the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia.
The group have been instrumental in raising money for the organisation in the past, with afternoon teas from 2011-2015 and A Night Against Breast Cancer in 2016.
An auction saw a variety of items go under the hammer, with Broadbeach accommodation going for $1250, quilt for $250, Sydney accommodation for $600, makeup kit for $300 and Skinny Lizard stubby holders go for $100.
“The stubby holders were worth $5,” Mr Dawson said.
“That shows the generosity of the people on the night; they were prepared to bid up for something.”
Mr Dawson said another fundraising activity was “bra-thong”, which was “just a bit of fun”. Locals tried their luck at throwing ping-pong balls with the aim of getting them to land in hanging bras, which were worth different amounts of money.
I’m thankful to everyone for supporting it and Geoff and Belinda and Molly for all the work they put into it.

Mr Dawson said everyone enjoyed the night.
“The music provided by Busta certainly kept everyone dancing and have a good time,” he said.
“At the end of the night we had a full dancefloor, which is always a good sign.”
Breast Cancer Trials manager Anna Fitzgerald was a guest speaker on the night and Michelle King said she was well-received.
“Anna spoke really well and explained where all the funds go and gave some examples,” Mrs King said.
“Quite a few people went to speak to her afterwards.”
