Dawson and her teammates have every reason to feel proud, after being thrown a lifeline when Group 4 decided to split the league tag competition into first and second tiers for the finals.
Boggabri will battle Werris Creek for the tier-two premiership at Jack Woolaston Oval on Sunday – the first time a Kangaroos side has made a grand final since the club re-entered Group 4 in 2013.
Dawson said there were “a few nerves already happening”. “I think we’re just proud and excited to be part of it, definitely,” she said.

The Roos were the first team into the grand final, after beating South West 21-4 and then Werris Creek 14-11 in the playoffs.
Maddison Giffen scored the late match-winner against the Magpies, and Dawson singled her out as one of Boggabri’s best, along with exciting fullback Cassidy Morley.
“The is my fifth year [with the club] and there’s a few of the other girls who have played for six,” Dawson said, “and we’ve just connected as a team this year really well.”
