The council said it would create a modern and flexible space with new movable shelving and furnishings, and updated computers.
“This state-of-the-art upgrade will ensure the local library better meets the recreational and educational needs of the Boggabri community, and will cement the facility as a vital asset within the region,” Library manager Jenny Campbell said.
Mrs Campbell said the library likely to re-open on Tuesday, September 18.
“While we apologise for the inconvenience of this temporary closure, it’s a small price to pay when you consider the wonderful fresh design and updated technology the whole community will all be able to enjoy,” she said.
“We encourage everyone to come and see this fabulous new space for themselves once the library re-opens later in September. It will certainly be a development worth celebrating.”
