THE community’s line dancing groups have come together to do their part for locals battling cancer.
Members of The Dance with Travis line dancing group and other local line dancing groups pulled out all the stops at a line dancing social in Curlewis on Saturday night to raise money for Can Assist.
The $1200 raised will help assist locals battling cancer in paying for transport to long-distance doctors appointments and other associated costs. Gunnedah Can Assist member Kate Knight said the funds were greatly appreciated.
“It’s so nice to see locals coming together to raise funds for such a worthy cause,” Ms Knight said.
“These funds will help people going through it with medical costs, travel costs and other things like that.
“We want to thank Travis Taylor and all of the line dancing groups who attended the social for their fundraising efforts.
“They have done a great job and it is greatly appreciated.”
The Dance with Travis instructor Travis Taylor said it was great to see several dance groups take part in the fundraising.
“It wasn’t just our group involved, there were groups from all over the place who came to the social,” Mr Taylor said.
“I think cancer is something that touches everybody is some way shape or form at some stage so for us to fundraise is really the least we can do.”

“For us it is a great way to come together, have a meal and a dance,” he said.
“It’s always a really nice coming together for us, so for us to use the opportunity to do something we love and raise money for a worthy cause at the same time is just fantastic.”
The Dance with Travis hosts intermediate classes at the Curlewis Community Hall on Tuesday nights from 6pm and beginners classes at the Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club on Wednesday nights from 6pm.
