Monday, April 23 saw the club host guest speakers Linda Lee and Kate Knight of Can Assist to explain about the work of Can Assist in the Gunnedah area.
The speakers provided a very interesting half hour with plenty of questions put forward.
At the conclusion of their talk, president Elaine Bridge presented a cheque for $300 on behalf of the Gunnedah Garden Club to Can Assist.
The usual club meeting then followed with invitations to the Smithhurst Theatre for morning tea on behalf of M S. on Wednesday, May 16 at 9.30am.
Ogulbil-Dungowan Valley Garden Club have invited Gunnedah members to their 29th birthday celebrations on June 18.
Members interested in attending are asked to bring their money at the next meeting for this event.
Names for the Narrandra trip in October must be in by next meeting also.
Members have been invited to send photos with gardens aspects to the Garden Club of Australia, Julia Withers has had photos printed previously.
Quite a few members were successful at the Gunnedah Show in the horticulture section, with Julia Withers taking out the champion floral arrangement kindly donated by the Gunnedah Garden Club.
In the flower competition Esme Gardner won with an Abutalan – a member of the Chinese lantern group and the vegetables section was won by Marj Hill
The Gunnedah Garden Club’s next meeting will be held on May 28 and will feature guest speaker Chris Birkett speaking on her life in Hungary.
The hostess for the event will be Marj Hill and raffle supplier Helen Murrell.
