THE family high-achieving genes were obvious when the Moores of Kelvin took their stock horses to compete at the Sydney Royal Easter Show again this year.

And that goes for both the humans and the animals of Starwaltz Australian Stock Horse Stud.
The family came home with several titles, continuing a successful run of Royal appearances.
Owner Barry Moore Moore runs the stud of about 20 horses with wife Jodie and their three children.

Their 17-year-old daughter Jessica helped out at the show and also had her own achievement.
“She competed in the junior judging in stock horses and ended up 5th out of about 20,” he said.
Ten-year-old Starwaltz Cool Justice took the title of best working stallion and went on to be champion working Australian stock horse of the show.
The latter made Mr Moore and Starwaltz Cool Justice the winners of the perpetual David Archibald Memorial Trophy for the second year in a row.
“He’s been a very competitive horse ever since he was broken in, but they’re his two biggest highlights, winning that back-to-back,” Mr Moore said.
“There’s also an RM Williams-sponsored event for the most versatile Australian stock horse and he was 2nd in that this year.
“You gain points from all the events you go in; he was entered in seven events and got a ribbon in six of them.
”He’s a stallion I’ve bred and trained, and I’ve competed with his mother, Starwaltz Cool Breeze, as well.
“She was supreme working horse in 2013 at the Australian Stock Horse Society National Show.”

And the bloodline of success doesn’t end there.
“Last year at the Royal, I won the reserve champion working horse with one of his daughters: Starwaltz Miss Liberty.”
Mr Moore said he knew ahead of the show that Starwaltz Cool Justice was in with “a good chance, because I’ve got so much faith in the horse”.
“He’s been so good for a long time; he always delivers what you ask of him – but you can never preempt any of this because you’re riding against top competitors, so it’s really great to win it again,” he said.
“It was unreal to win the first time, but to win twice is a big thrill.”
