About 50 people set-up chairs in the pavilion on Wednesday to watch walk-up artists including Mahlon Carthew from Casino, Ma Luisa Newton from Newcastle, Don Ritchings from Strathpine and Hazel Newman from the Maitland area.
All walk-up artists are accompanied by Gunnedah’s Rex Baldwin and Tamworth’s Rob Breese.
The showground will continue to fill up with caravans for the five-day event, with walk-up artists showcasing their talents until Friday. Entry is free for these days.
Saturday and Sunday are the two biggest days and will feature Kootingal’s Brian Letton, Maitland’s Bob Easter, Rob Breese, Rex Baldwin and Val Williamson, Manilla’s Trevor Coombs, Wauchope’s Ken “Chainsaw” Lindsay and Crowsnest’s Jed and Trudy Hintz.
Performances kick off at 1pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday at a cost of $20 per day. On Saturday, there will be a two-course meal ahead of the night’s entertainment, with a cost of $15 per person.
All the profits from the country music muster go to Gunnedah Show Society.
