The annual event will be held in the Griffiths Pavilion at the Gunnedah Showground from March 20-25 and will feature Kootingal’s Brian Letton, Maitland’s Bob Easter, Tamworth’s Rob Breese, Gunnedah’s Rex Baldwin and Val Williamson, Manilla’s Trevor Coombs, Wauchope’s Ken “Chainsaw” Lindsay and Crowsnest’s Jed and Trudy Hintz.
Wednesday through to Friday is free, with musicians and singers given the chance to hop on stage and give performing a crack, with support from Rob Breese and Rex Baldwin.
“Rob and I try and help those people who haven’t got the confidence to get out in front of a lot of people and perform,” Mr Baldwin said.
“On Thursday, we have a dance for all the caravan people who show up for the Saturday show.”
Old favourites include Monte Carlo, Pride of Erin, Canadian three-step and the novel bag dance.
The next day, there will be a walk-up concert from 6pm.
“The audience vote for their favourite walk-up artist then they sing with us on the Saturday night,” Mr Baldwin said.
On Saturday and Sunday, Brian Letton is one of the headline artists.
“Brian Letton is the draw card,” Mr Baldwin said.
“People love Brian.”
The local said he’d had calls from as far as Rolleston in Queensland and Myrtleford in Tasmania about the musician.
“They say, ‘We’re coming because Brian is playing’. That’s how popular he is,” Mr Baldwin said.
The Gunnedah man said about 42 recreational vehicles were booked in so far, with hopes for about 50-60 by the time the event rolls around.
“The uniqueness of our show is all of these artists will sing approximately eight songs in a set, nine songs in a set, and nobody else can sing that song again,” he said.
“So we’ve got eight artists, so we’ve got 64 songs and that’s why people are coming back.”
All the profits from the country music muster go to Gunnedah Show Society.
