GUNNEDAH police are appealing for information after 70 used car batteries were stolen from a local business over the weekend.

The thieves are believed to have cut through a wire fence of the Gunnedah Batteries and Windscreens and Tyrepower site and are reported to have stolen more than a pellet load of recyclable batteries.
Tempest Street business owner Marietjie Harmse said she will offer a $200 reward for anyone who returns the batteries.
“I must say the main feeling I’m having after this incident is invasion,” Ms Harmse said.
“It really comes down to the annoyance of having your stuff stolen.
“You do your best to try and be fair to everyone in your business and you have this stuff happen.
“I will offer anybody who returns the batteries a $200 reward, just as long as I get the batteries back I don’t mind.”

Ms Harmse urged anyone with information to contact either herself or the police.
“I hope someone can help get to the bottom of this,” she said.
“If anyone knows anything, or has any information please feel free to contact myself or the police.”
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
