Among those who marched to the cenotaph were school students, Quirindi piper Gavin Shaw, veterans and families of veterans.
Event organiser Marleen Neader led the service, with Gunnedah Shire Band member Josh Green playing the Last Post and the Reveille.
Wreaths were laid then Peter Middlebrook shared his experiences of war and read the poem 'The Soldier at the Pearly Gates' before reflecting on the sacrifice made by serviceman and women.
"A lot of soldiers died for us so we could have a quality of life that's better than anywhere else in the world, I think," Mr Middlebrook said.
