International pop star Troye Sivan and Canberra-born rapper Genesis Owusu were the big winners at the 2023 ARIA Awards. Stars of the Australian music industry converged at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion for the awards evening on November 15. With four wins including Best Solo Artist and Song of the Year for his hit Rush, Sivan topped off a successful week which started with two Grammy Award nominations. Owusu won three ARIAs including Album of the Year with STRUGGLER, after leading the field with seven nominations. Accepting the award in a live video from London where he is touring, the Ghanaian-Australian singer called for a ceasefire in Gaza and told the audience to "pay attention to what is happening in the world". Meanwhile Kylie Minogue took home her first ARIA since 2002, winning Best Pop Release with her hit Padam Padam. A Most Popular International Artist win for Taylor Swift cemented Australia's love for the megastar ahead of her February 2024 tour down under. The night's performances featured an all-Aussie lineup including G Flip, Budjerah, Jessica Mauboy and Hall of Fame inductees Jet.
