Mazda is recalling plug-in hybrid versions of its new CX-60 crossover as they could lose power unexpectedly.

"Due to a programming issue, the fail-safe driving mode which helps reduce the effects of failure in the vehicle may activate unintentionally resulting in a loss of motive power," the company says in its recall notice.
"A loss of motive power while driving at high speed could increase the risk of a crash. This could potentially result in injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users."

Mazda is contacting owners of all affected vehicles.
If you own one of them, you'll need to take it to a Mazda dealership to have a free software update carried out.
