Placing her hands on the cement and comparing them with the artists who had come before her, she wondered 'would I ever fit the mould?'.
Now, the nine-time Golden Guitar winner and CMAA Academy of Country Music director has etched her name into country music history as a 2022 Hands of Fame inductee.
Bowtell is one of six country music figures to join the famed collection of names and handprints honouring the most respected personalities in the industry.
Fellow performers Luke O'Shea, Kirsty Lee Akers, Roo Arcus and Dennis "Fibber" Parker, along with respected photo-journalist John Elliott will join Bowtell, when history is made at a special induction ceremony on Wednesday.
"It's humbling and a great honour to know that my own hand print will now sit alongside those of my heroes!," Bowtell said.

The artists' hand impressions will be placed alongside 300 others at the Hands of Fame cornerstone, on Kable Ave in Tamworth.
Country star Luke O'Shea said he's admired the pantheon of names and handprints celebrating the people that built the industry for over 20 years
"It's an institution and a family I deeply care about - and to be 'officially' included and invited to place my hands alongside some of these mighty folk fills me with an overwhelming sense of gratitude," he said.
It's a tradition that began in 1977 as a tribute to those who had made a name for themselves, with icons like Slim Dusty and Smoky Dawson among the hundreds to have placed their prints into wet cement.
