The Gunnedah Swimming Carnival will be held over Saturday and Sunday with good nominations coming in from all over the place.
"It's shaping up really good. We've got 235 kids entered from all over the area as well as some from Dubbo, Hunter Valley, Orana, Coonabarabran - so we've got a broad range of people coming which is really good," Swimming Gunnedah secretary Brian Coombs said.

The committee, swimmers and coaches have been putting in a mountain of work, in and out of the pool, in the lead-up to the carnival to have everything ready to go.
Anyone over the age of 16 wanting to go to the carnival must be double vaccinated.
The committee is also prepared for some untimely weather with rain predicted over the weekend and the members are hoping it is just rain that comes.
"We're alright as long as we don't get any storms. If we get the storms and the lightning that's what shuts us down - the rain doesn't bother us that much," Coombs said.
Coach John Hickey has been putting the swimmers through their paces to prepare them for the carnival and it's paying dividends.
Coombs said he had seen a massive improvement from "all the kids right across the board".
"The kids have really jumped ahead in leaps and bounds with their training and their ability in the pool which has been fantastic," he said.
"It's a bit of a feather in the cap for John. We've got two or three standout kids but all the kids do really well."
The Gunnedah swimmers are in for a massive season.
Along with local carnivals, a group of kids will be heading north for a camp on the Gold Coast.
"It's been organised mainly by Aaron Smith, our new president. He's done a great job there," Coombs said.
"They're going to an elite swimming camp up in Queensland. There's 30 kids going. It's a great opportunity for the kids."
The Gunnedah club is also hosting one leg of the NSW Country Regionals in January and they are keen to host other big carnivals.
"That'll bring a lot of people to the area," Coombs said of the regionals.
"We're also looking at putting our hand up for the New England and North West Area Championships and Speedo Sprints at our pool as well."
While all the Gunnedah swimmers are improving, one has been a standout at the club.
Jacob Smith broke the Gunnedah club record for the 11 years 50m freestyle recently. The record was set by James Clift back in 2005.
Coach Hickey said Smith's ability was matched by his attitude. "He is unrelenting in his desire to be the best that he can be," he said.
