Glen Innes to exit lockdown at midnight on Thursday night after no new COVID-19 cases recorded in New England North West

No further cases or exposure sites have been listed in the region by NSW Health including Tamworth, Gunnedah and Glen Innes.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard said "no more major issues" in Glen Innes meant the local government area could be relieved of lockdown rules at midnight on Thursday night. Orange was also released.

"So they will come out of the current lock down arrangements," Mr Hazzard said.

"There will be still standard restrictions and precautionary measures but they will be out and back to a more normal life as of midnight tonight."

Tamworth also recorded its third consecutive negative sewage result after a case was confirmed in the area earlier this week.

The state recorded 1063 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, and sadly six further deaths.

The Hunter New England Health (HNEH) district recorded 41 new cases of the virus, including 26 from Lake Macquarie local government area and seven from Newcastle.

More than 83 per cent of the eligible population had received a dose of vaccine at the latest update and 55.5 per cent were fully vaccinated.

There are 1244 people in hospital with COVID-19.
