YOU wouldn't normally be able to enjoy date and walnut slice at the local pub, but you could this week at the Somerton Hotel.
Almost 100 people gathered at the pub for a Biggest Morning Tea event run by Edna McGrath.
Pub manager Annette Mackley said there was a smorgasbord of delicious goodies on offer.
"There was the apple sour slice which was beautiful, date and walnut slice, brownies of course and a chocolate coconut slice," Ms Mackley said.
"I love that home cooking. There was a selection of gluten-free, cakes, scones with jam and cream, beautiful homemade sandwiches, and biscuits."
There was also plants, books, fruit and vegetables, jams and pickles available to purchase, with all proceeds going to the Cancer Council.
Including donations made before the event, a whopping total of $7000 was raised for the Cancer Council.
Ms Mackley said attendees had visited from Tamworth, Manilla, Gunnedah, Boggabri, Uralla and other areas in the region.
