With last year's event being cancelled and no march occurring in Tamworth, people flooded to Gunnedah to watch on and pay their respects.
There was also good attendance for the dawn service and main ceremony.
Emotional speeches and wreath laying were a feature as the community showed their dedication to the day has not waned.

Gunnedah Fire and Rescue deputy captain Andrew Johns said it was incredible to see the turn out throughout the day.
"It was very well attended, every year for us 314 firefighters it's a really good opportunity for us to reflect on sacrifices people have made," he said.
"I wouldn't hazard a guess on the numbers but it was very, very well attended."
