The $6.6 million project will take approximately eight months to complete and will include the repair of road surfaces and widening of road shoulders near the Goolhi Road intersection, which is designed to help deal with the large volume of trucks that use the stretch of highway.
Works will be carried out from 6.30am to 6pm on weekdays and between 6.30am and 1pm on Saturdays.
Temporary traffic changes including single lane closures and a 40 km/h speed limit will be in place during work hours.
There may be some changes to driveway access during work and any affected property owners will be contacted with traffic control on site to assist.

Four contractors and 32 people have been hired to carry out the upgrades, which has the support of Sam Farraway MLC.
"I'm pleased that, through our continued investment in regional NSW, we are helping to boost freight efficiency, improve access and connectivity on our state road network, ultimately contributing to the growth of local economies," he said.
The stretch of highway that is being upgraded is used by more than 600 vehicles per day.
