The fire was at advice level last night, however it is currently under control.
Gunnedah Fire and Rescue crew were also on site when a car was alight near Nea silos on Tuesday, marking a busy first day of summer.
The crew were assisted by Curlewis Rural Fire Brigade members and luckily they were able to extinguish the vehicle fire before it spread to the adjacent bushland.
With conditions expected to ease over the next few days and into next week - and the possibility of a thunderstorm for the North West Slopes and Plains on Thursday followed by predicted showers on Friday - crews will hopefully have a short respite.
However RFS Liverpool Plains District co-ordinator Myles O'Reilly said they will still be on high alert as it wouldn't be long before the region becomes high risk again.
"It's only going to be a matter of time before it picks back up again to very high danger ratings," he told the Namoi Valley Independent.
This week's heatwave posed an increased risk for grass fires due to landholders undertaking harvest operations, who were advised to regularly stop and check local weather conditions and the grain harvesting guide before deciding to continue.
