The Gunnedah side is undefeated after three rounds following their latest victory - a nine-wicket win over Peel Valley in Tamworth.
Small said he was "loving how it's going" - not just because of the wins but also the camaraderie among the team.
"All the boys get along, they get around each other and are playing as a team," he said.
"They're all happy to be out there, even in this stupid heat."

The heat Small speaks of were the temperatures in excess of 40 degrees on Sunday.
Luckily for Gunnedah, they didn't have to withstand the worst of it after they romped home against Peel Valley.
Troy Sands led with the ball claiming 5-20 from 10 overs while Ash White (3-17) and Garry Briggs (2-17) were the only other two bowlers used as Peel Valley were toppled for 57.
"They bowled really well especially Troy Sands. He came in swung the ball and took five wickets," Small said.
First drop Hindmarsh (17) and No. 4 Bullock (13) top-scored for Peel Valley.
Gunnedah made light work of the total with an opener doing most of the heavy lifting.
"Oscar King went out with the intent to score runs early. That's the way he plays," Small said.
"He would have batted the same [regardless of the score]. He goes out there and sees the ball, hits the ball."
And King was seeing them alright.
The opener finished with 47 from 23 balls.
He hit seven fours along with two sixes and was only removed when Gunnedah needed just one run to win.
Justin Carter (8*) and Rhyce Kliendienst (2*) then saw Gunnedah home to a nine-wicket win.
Gunnedah's next Connolly Cup clash will be against Tamworth.
