THE Gunnedah Netball Association is on the hunt for new committee members for 2021 ahead of its annual general meeting on October 14.

Heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the association was unable to run most of its usual competitions and most recently cancelled its twilight series.
However, current association president Steve Betts said there had been a lot of positives throughout the year and he was eager to get some new ideas onto the committee.

"The current committee has been working hard in the background on a number of projects, even though there hasn't been much action on the court due to the COVID-19 pandemic," Betts said.
"In our tenure as a committee, we have managed to procure over $15,000 in grants and sponsorship, which included the refurbishment of our goal posts and was made possible by Stripes Engineering.
"This funding has also allowed us to purchase new uniforms, new post pads, new Gunnedah Netball Association marquees and allowed us to upgrade IT infrastructure."
As well as securing funding, the committee was also nominated for the 2020 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award, which Betts said came as a "huge surprise".
"We have really come together over the last two years as a leadership team with a commitment to laying the foundation for great sportsmanship, inclusiveness and fair play on and off the court, which we feel we have succeeded in doing," he said.
"We can't thank all our coaches, managers and volunteers enough for all their time, dedication, commitment to Gunnedah Netball and their teams, and building such a great environment for everyone to be involved in."
Betts said despite the progress made in recent years he was concerned the committee may struggle to attract new members.
"Gunnedah is such a giving community and I know so many people who give up their time to help out," he said.
"However, I know quite a few members of the committee will be looking to step down soon, so we are really keen to attract some new members and keep the momentum going.
"We really need people to step up to ensure we are able to continue to provide this vital and valued Gunnedah sporting tradition that allows so many in our community to enjoy the game of netball."
The Gunnedah Netball Association will hold its annual general meeting at the Gunnedah Services and Bowling Club from 6pm on Wednesday, October 14.
