Young substitute Mack Hansen nailed a penalty with the last kick of the game at GIO Stadium to deny Harry Wilson's Reds their first win in the nation's capital since 2014.
About 40m out, the 22-year-old's kick never looked like missing to lift the Brumbies a game-and-a-half clear on top of the ladder.

After trailing 14-3 at half-time the Reds controlled much of the second half. Wilson scored early in the opening couple of minutes courtesy of a magical offload from returning Wallabies prodigy Jordan Petaia.
The Gunnedah product almost had a second a few minutes later.
Running a great support line to Filipo Daugunu, who had been put away by James O'Connor, Wilson burst through. He was brought down a couple of metres from the line but was able to get an offload away.
Jock Campbell scooped it up and gave it off to Angus Scott-Young, who scored to put the Reds ahead for the first time in the game.
O'Connor pushed the lead out to 20-14 but the Brumbies' third rolling-maul try of the night saw it cut back to just a point and set up a thrilling final five minutes.
Returning to the scene of his impressive debut earlier in the year, Wilson was back to his best with (according to RUGBY.com.au stats) 16 carries for 88 metres - the most of the Reds' forwards with two clean breaks . He also made 20 tackles and won one turnover.
Queensland captain Liam Wright said the Reds only had themselves to blame for the defeat.
"Lots of discipline issues, which is just costing us, but the Brumbies are a class outfit and know when to take the pressure," he told Fox Sports.
"We don't want to be chasing 14 points like that early."
The loss leaves the Reds in second.
