The temperature dropped to -3.4 degrees on Tuesday morning, according to the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) weather station at Gunnedah airport.
The cold weather was enough to freeze over windscreens, dogs' water bowls, and bring a thick and lingering frost to town.
The temperature will rise by just a few degrees on Wednesday morning and the BoM forecast for the next few days is partly cloudy and also sunny. Showers are predicted to fall over the weekend.
