But now that's all about to change with the unveiling of Tamworth's newest church.
It's called North Tamworth Anglican Church and it's on Moore Creek Road just past the Calrossy Cowper campus.

How do you start a new church?
First you need a plan. So concerned people from around the area have been researching and praying for four years to build a church that will be a hub for the rapidly growing North Tamworth and Moore Creek area.
Next you need a pastor. Reverend Scott Dunlop was invited to head up the new church after 14 years at Gunnedah.
You'll need a place. A large block has been purchased just past the school. An ideal position separate from Calrossy but able to serve each other.
Finally, you need people. Even before Rev Dunlop and his wife Jo arrived, there was a groundswell of supporters who became the core team of the new church.
Ultimately, it's God who builds a church.
- Rev Scott Dunlop
The first service was held on February 16 in the school library. When COVID-19 restrictions set in, they went to zoom but now the church is back in the flesh. You can find them at 9:30 on Sunday. Go to the Cowper car park and follow the signs.
The church is keen to get to know and serve the residents of North Tamworth and Moore Creek. In recent weeks there have been online games nights, a ladies online craft day and a letterbox drop introducing the new church.
"We are a church that wants to care for people", says Scott.
"But ultimately, it's God who builds a church."
