The Liverpool Plains local government area (LGA) could soon fully become a part of the Tamworth electorate.

But this will depend on if the NSW Electoral Commission's plans to redistribute the boundaries are followed through.
The LGA is currently split between two electorates - Tamworth and the Upper Hunter - and Liverpool Plains Shire Council (LPSC) mayor Andrew Hope isn't opposed to the idea of a single electorate.
"Having one member can have its advantages because its only one electoral office to chase for funding," Cr Hope said.
"It makes a bit of sense to me that we'll be in the greater Tamworth electorate."

Cr Hope said if the change was to occur, Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson would need to "take Quirindi under his wing".
"He certainly, I believe, is pretty successful with Werris Creek, so I think he'll have to do some ground work in here with Quirindi to be as well known as what Michael [Johnsen] is," he said.
"He'll need to be building relationships and understanding how the bottom area of our shire works."
The National Party is pushing for the LGA to be a part of the Tamworth electorate, and wrote a submission to the NSW Electoral Commission with its ideas.
The party suggested that the "split" Liverpool Plains LGA should be reunited "solely within the one electoral district - Tamworth".
There's nothing I can do about it, it's just the way it is.
- Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen
While his party is pushing for the boundary to be shifted, Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen doesn't like the idea of losing his areas of the LGA.
But, he said he would be understanding if that's what the commission decided.
"I would prefer not to lose the Liverpool Plains but ultimately its up to the electoral commission," Mr Johnsen said.
"We've got some realities that we have to deal with, and that is we have to look at population shifts and the size of other electorates throughout neighbouring areas.
"There's nothing I can do about it, it's just the way it is."
The Liberal Party of Australia also put forward a submission to the commission, and is similarly pushing for the shift.
"Given the projection of thousands more electors in the Hunter and Central Coast area, and to ensure that the numbers of voters in the region's electorates remain balanced, we have proposed adding Liverpool Plains and Upper Hunter LGAs to the Tamworth electorate," a party spokesperson told ACM.
"Liverpool Plains has previously been in the Tamworth electorate, and its major centre Quirindi is closer to Tamworth than Gunnedah."
It's not the only LGA that could be shifted, either, with Gunnedah shire possibly moving from the Tamworth electorate to the Barwon electorate.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson is currently on leave and was unable to comment.
