Gunnedah mayor Jamie Chaffey welcomed the community to join the first ever online meeting, or to listen to the recording at a later time.
"Attending council meetings offers an opportunity to observe your council at work and learn about your councils direction, proposed developments and projects," Cr Chaffey said.
"Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this month's meeting will see councillors and staff participating from home too.
"Our April ordinary meeting will be remembered in time as the very first meeting of the Gunnedah Shire Council to be held online and therefore we will be making history."
Cr Chaffey said there would be a number of important community issues to be discussed at April's meeting, including the proposed COVID-19 community resilience business support package.
The livestream can be accessed via the council's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMPwqWpq9WFNb3zeiIQC3jg/featured
The recording can be accessed once the meeting is complete.
